San Carlo Homes for the Aged Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation, leading aged care provider in Victoria providing accommodation for elderly Italians who are no longer able to manage in their own homes.

Your role

In your role as a Registered Nurse, you will be a role model to all staff.  The ability to work independently and in a team environment, demonstrating skills and experience in the following:

  • Advanced practitioner level competencies in assessment and care planning, documentation, communication, medication administration and delivering services to meet complex resident needs including dementia and wound care.
  • Knowledge of the Health and Aged Care Sectors, ACFI, accreditation and aged care legislation.
  • Conducting assessments, developing and evaluating care plans for our residents.
  • Operational and staff supervision, planning and service coordination, OH&S, infection control and management information systems.
  • SIRS,  Restrictive Practices, National Aged Care Quality Indicators

Minimum requirement to the role

  • Holds current registration with the AHPRA.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Aged Care setting.
  • Proven interest and passion in working with aged and clients with dementia.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • The ability to maintain effective communication with residents and/or their representatives.
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth’s Aged Care Standards and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Highest attention to detail.
  • Experience developing and reviewing care plans.
  • Medication administration
  • Hands on care.
  • GP rounds.
  • Wounds management.
  • Mandatory Reporting/SIR
  • Restrictive Practices
  • A desire to seek continual improvement within the scope of employment.
  • Have a current National Police Certificate available.
  • Respect and understanding of Italian Culture & language
